More From the Brother Department

brotherflexingSINCE MY DEAR BROTHER has been working like a horse, staying overtime at his job and doing construction on his house, I haven’t been able to talk to him in weeks! Until a few days ago, when we finally had a moment to catch up with each other…

And so as I’m talking to him about school and the weather and his stock portfolio, he is getting ready for work and seems a bit distracted. He tells me to hold on and I can hear the muffled sound of people talking. I’m holding on for a good four minutes before he comes back on the line. When I ask about who is there, and does he need to go?, he simply replies that he put down the phone to watch the footage of Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s VMA speech on YouTube. ON YOUTUBE! He couldn’t even wait to push play until after we got off our long-lost-sibling phone call! I swear, if that boy didn’t make me laugh, I would clobber him.

Ha! Hilarious stuff.

You’re awesome, T-money.

Sometimes the best use of family is for writing. They make great material. Write on, sister. Having that particular brother, you’ve got enough material for several books.

Laugh and then clobber him.

What I love best about Mr. Big is that he is completely honest, truly himself. (And like E says, after that feel-good minute of understanding…then punch him out bigtime.)

I agree – don’t let him get away with that – for his OWN good as well as yours and your relationship!

Oh… brothers. Can’t get them to talk but then you can’t get them to leave you alone when you need to get something done. I’ve noticed my grown kids are like that though – hardly ever “just” talk on the phone. They are always talking while driving to work, checking email, watching TV, walking to class. I’m getting past the point I take that personally. It seems hardly anybody under a certain age simply does one thing at a time any more. Harumpf! (wow do I feel old now…..)

I almost never “just” talk on the phone- at the very least I’m pacing but usually doing one of the things you mentioned, TexasDeb. That being said, when I talk to my sister on the phone every few weeks, I don’t make her wait while I watch a video or for anything.

And by the by, I’ve kinda been hoping that T would come post a comment in his defense.
