Frightened French Children (Redux)

50648a4805a15763_landing-1TSP READER Keith was so kind to send me the image above from a 1963 issue of Life. These adorable Frenchies are in the Parc de Montsouris watching Guignol puppet show at the  moment the dragon is slain. Their faces remind me of one of my most beloved scenes from Truffaut’s Les quatre cent coups–remember this past “Stork” pick?

I love the work of Alfred Eisenstaedt, and this photo is one of my favorites. The gorgeous girl, terror stricken, on the far right absolutely melts me.

Yes, Keith, she is my favorite, too!

Whew! A fabulous photo of pure emotion. Some of these kids look traumatized – quite the range of fear to triumph.

Wow. The first couple of times I looked at this picture I totally missed the kid to the right who is freaking the f**k out! (the one with glasses)

Amazing

Also by coincidence, the picture of you with T at the beach is up next to it on the right, and he looks shockingly similar to the kid in the photo to the left covering his ears…
