OKAY, SISTERS, IT’S TIME FOR ME to confess something: I am secretly terrified about my impending relocation to North Carolina! (Did you hear? I’m about to start graduate school.) There’s so much to do! And so much to leave! The video above (which I found thanks to the lovely Capucha) pretty much sums it all up. Thank goodness I watched it the whole way through, because how could I forget: There’s also so much to discover. Whew.

THE SISTER PROJECT HAS been a-buzz in the last several weeks with the completion of our updated master movie list in The Sisterpedia. TSP’s Paige gathered all the sister movie suggestions from our blogs, your comments, and emails, and compiled them into a handy go-to list with descriptions and everything (perfect for your netflix queue). I’ve talked about some of my favorite sister movies here, here and here. But what about you? What sister flicks do you love? Have we missed any in the master list? (The clip above is for inspiration, from Mermaids.)

WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN gathering up identical twins for some good-natured trickery on the subway? Improv Everywhere put together this little sketch about a year ago, and I still smile when I see the other train riders’ reactions! Isn’t the woman’s double take on 0:43 priceless? Do you think many of these twins already had matching outfits in their closets? If I had a twin, I’d want to keep at least one identical outfit handy…just in case.

OUR FAVORITE PETITE FRENCHIE, Capucine, turned 5 last week and her mama made this tribute video for her. Isn’t it adorable? And I love that she chose the music from Amelie to go along. Bon Anniversaire Capucine! Also: Did you see her brother dressed as a clown in the first photo? How silly.

YES, I ONCE SANG SOPRANO in the Searles Middle School Chorus, but I was not very good. Sometimes I didn’t even sing, I just moved my mouth and listened to everyone else hit the right notes. (I’m a better team player these days–I swear!) These young scholars, however, make me want to join them in their serenades. They’re simply amazing (and so full of character!) While they’ve been around the web quite a bit lately, this video is via Deb.

NOTHING MAKES ME WANT TO return to childhood more (well, maybe except for The Red Balloon) than this puppet show scene from Truffaut’s 1959 film, The 400 Blows. (Clearly, I’m speaking of returning to my non-existent, retro French childhood. Sigh.)

I ‘M NOT ENTIRELY SURE WHAT is going on during the 11-second span of this video, but one thing is for sure: Big sisters know how to give a good squeeze. I love watching that baby’s face as it goes from general excitement (probably about her sister’s penguin hat) to sheer terror as she nearly gets the life squeezed out of her. I’m so thrilled that Vimeo is filled with strange sister moments perfect for making me laugh.

HOW COOL IS THIS: Girls Write Now provides high school aged girls interested in writing with one-on-one mentoring from professional women writers in New York. It’s a remarkable sisterhood of young women, many of whom are facing profound daily challenges (40% of the mentees in the program are immigrants). Here’s a snippet about the program from the Girls Write Now website: [click to continue…]

THANK GOODNESS CAPUCINE NEVER STOPS being cute. She’s at the storytelling again (I posted her original animal tale back in November 2008), and I can see her recounting skills have advanced–so much dialogue in this one! She’s a budding writer for sure. And she’s got some interesting near-yoga moves there in the middle. To quote Madmoiselle Capucine, herself, “Wow!” ( 1:35)
Update: as of 5/09 this video is no longer private. Woo hoo!

AS YOU MAY KNOW, I’ve been engaged in a stork-playing game for quite some time now. This simply perfect video is making me rethink my method–all methods, really. Take note parents (and parents to be): Perhaps you should bookmark this video for future use. (I’m sure it could be quite handy in forthcoming baby-sibling situations.) Thanks to Capucha at Tralalere! for sharing it.
