My friend Leah pointed out how T on the little horse was just like Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius (who is made to look powerful on a disproportionately tiny beast).
LAST CHRISTMAS, MY MOTHER got gift certificates for T and I to have a horseback riding lesson at Roberts Woods Farm in Monterey, Massachusetts. Six months later, the three of us finally aligned our schedules, and last Sunday we spent the afternoon hanging out with some very charming Icelandic horses.
It was T’s first time ever on horseback! Our mother kept worrying that he would hurt the little horse (Icelandic horses are a small breed–almost like ponies), and suggested perhaps the horse ride him. The horse trainer reminded us that these hardy little horses used to carry Vikings, and I think T loved that.
We had a few lessons in the barn and then trotted around an outdoor trail together. Mom was terrified (due to some past unhappy horse experiences), but T was a natural.
Later that night, after my mom had fallen asleep on the couch and I was upstairs in my room, T called our house to say that not only did he love his first horse-riding experience, but that he intends to purchase a horse as soon as he has the money! Oh, brother.

Oh my god these pictures are everything I hoped they would be and so much more! Love the comparison and love the bangs!
ah hahaha. I love this, too! Especially since the horses are from Iceland.. mmm, Scandinavia. This also reminds me of the time that we rummaged around in the barns at Ethel Walker.
