OY, I’VE GOT IT bad. As I round the quarter-century bend in my life, some primordial alarm clock within me is screaming. (Anyone else?) I nearly burst into tears at the sight of this awesome eco-friendly onsie (as modeled by little guy J from Marvelous Kiddo with his big bro in the background). It’s from the Scandinavian children’s clothier Vyssan Lull. Why is it that Scandinavians are so endlessly cool?

Ah, Anastasia, our little guy in the onesie is adorable – but from the other side of my own half-century bend life curve, I am picturing that onesie-wearer all grown up. Babies are like puppies that way – abso-freakin-lutely adorable in capital letters in those onesie days, but not always so adorable at 10 (having just taken apart their iPod to see how it works) or at 17 (having just missed a curfew or returned the car with an empty tank – again) or at 26 (having just missed a student loan payment – again.) And most days, I can see those gleaming onesie-clad eyes in the 10, 17 and 26 year old faces. But know that they grow up into something a lot more complicated, and long-term, and high maintenance. And they are truly “oy” forever. Worth it, but oy!
And remember, even if you don’t have a Swedish onesie-clad angel of your own, there are no end of ways to make a difference in the life of a child at any age.
Oh man, there were some little girls dancing at the wedding I went to over the weekend and it kind of killed me. Alison and I were kind of flipping out over it.
