Apparently, This Isn’t His Best Side

t-and-mom

T and his mama in 2008.

NOW THAT I’VE BEEN writing for The Sister Project for the better part of a year, some funny interactions have emerged in my family–mostly around my brother, T. There’s been the usual “you better not post that photo of my sunburned butt on the internet” banter from the beginning. But most recently, my mom did the silliest thing:

Last winter, in a moment of Yenta passion, my mother started talking to a lovely woman at her yoga studio about T. Since she’s of the conviction that beer pong must wither and die next to yoga, she’s always scheming of setting T up with a young yogini.

So now, after months of traveling abroad, said young yogini returned to the Berkshires and promptly emailed my mother to ask if she could finally meet T! She also inquired about his fabled good looks, and wondered if my mom would be so kind to send her a photo.

With her matchmaking zeal subdued by seasonal exhaustion (she works a lot in the summer), I guess my mom’s initial and only reaction was to reply with a link to The Sister Project. Basically implying that “all you need to know about my son can be summed up in a series of photos of him flexing and various references to his drinking habits.” T was horrified (“you sent her WHAT?!”) when she reported this to him, rather innocently.

Needless to say, we haven’t heard from the yogini since. Poor T!

Side note: for more sides of my brother (sunburn included), check out my new flickr photostream.

That really is silly! I guess though it goes to show that she isn’t ashamed of your work on TSP. Nice pic of Deborah, btw.

Sorry for posting twice, but you need to promote that Flickr more. I commented and then clicked on it as an afterthought and there are a bunch of really beautiful and amazing photos on there! I’ve been waiting for that one of your kids in Paris with the flags for months!

Totally hysterical. Poor T.

I’d like to comment on the flickr photostream here because I don’t want to sign-in there – fabulous photos – what a captivating journey! And the “cheese face” was taken at Conroy’s Organics, (http://conroyorganics.blogspot.com/) a cafe and store in West Chazy, NY, exit 39 off the Northway (rt. 87 north). It is an oasis of delicious organic (mostly home grown and local) food prepared by fine brothers and sisters. If you are up that way, make it a destination.

I want to say that I think that T has been an amazing Muse for the sisterhood, and it only makes me more fond of him than ever.

He has displayed charm and grace (and hilarity) under the scrutiny of all of us, and also generosity, come to think of it…it is generous of him to open up this view of himself to us, the view into his life through Anna’s eyes. Brave and generous, and beautiful.

Any yogini would be fortunate to meet such a flexible (flex-a-lot?) young man. Her loss.

Thanks, T. You’re the man.

We need T shirts. Wear ‘em all over town. Bring it to the sisterhood. We’ll get him married off in no time.

What kind of tshirts are we thinking of? My friend works at a kiosk at the mall here and can custom-make anything you come up with. He can even make them on a shirt you bring if you want to make sure it was ethically produced (organic cotton, union made, etc).

The Yogini is the loser here. T is one of the most fun, polite young gentleman. He’ll call me, borrow my kayak, return it in mint condition and always stays for a chat, especially nice because I am of a certain mature age and enjoy his bright smile and banter.
Also, who wouldn’t want to date the son of Deborah? She is the most beautiful mother I know. She looks like she must have had T when she was 10! Skin perfect, and open minded. good gracious, T is a catch. Hello ladies!
