THIS DARK-AND-SUNNY FILM STARRING AMY ADAMS (of recent Julie and Julia fame) is the latest sister flick to reach my dvd player, after its release about two weeks ago. Single-mom Rose (Adams) and her neer-do-well sister, Norah (Emily Blunt), find their way back to a more connected sisterhood and then the freedom of individual paths along a road that includes some odd stops, most notably collaborating on a cleaning business that specializes in crime-scene aftermaths.
Alan Arkin as the odd-duck father (shades of Little Miss Sunshine, another offbeat family film I loved) and music by The Decemberists (a favorite band) just made it all the lovelier, as did Rose’s delightfully recalcitrant young son, Oscar (Jason Spevack). A great addition to our list of movies to watch with your sister…maybe this holiday weekend?

Funny enough, my own sister is the one who mentioned this movie to me and said, “You HAVE to see this” <3
I am going go see if I can find it on itunes right now!
Thanks for pointing me to this post. I missed. it. Sounds like I have a movie to watch this weekend.
Hi, Corina. I did love this movie; a little darker than “Little Miss Sunshine,” but great take on sisterhood.
