AND YOU THOUGHT your family home was strange. How about growing upon a “divorce ranch?” No, that is not the name of a new reality show—or maybe it is; who knows? In this case, I’m referring to one of the famous places where women who once wanted out of their marriages could live as “residents” while awaiting a Nevada divorce. Want to take a peek inside?
Divorce ranches were also frequently family homes, and one in particular housed sisters Beth Ward and Robbie McBride, who share this rich story territory with NPR, which got it all on tape as part of their marvelous StoryCorps.
Listen up. (The interview got us remembering some Hollywood moments on the topic, too, so we grabbed the little clip above; enjoy both!)
