Another Livesey Novel to Love

by marionroach on October 8, 2009

margot liveseyDANIELLE TOLD ME TO do it, and so I did. And I am so grateful, taking up one commenter’s suggestion and reading another novel by Margot Livesey (left), this time Eva Moves the Furniture.

I thought I understood the mother-daughter connection. I did not. After reading Eva Moves the Furniture, I do now, having had that theme heightened and added to in ways that would have remained forever unknown to me had I not read this breathtaking, perfectly crafted, intuitive book.

I thought I knew about imaginary friends. I knew only my side. But there is another world to consider when that topic comes up, and Margot Livesey weighs them in the palm of her cool hand, and the result is magical suggestion of what is out there in the world for us, if only our hearts are open.

Open your heart, open the book, and live in Livesey’s world again. A few weeks ago I read another Livesey, and it was then that a comment came in, suggesting I read this one. So thank you, Danielle, for that wonderful advice. You’re a true sister of the book for recommending this.
