Listen Up, Sisters: Rasputina

by paige on June 17, 2010

IF YOU’VE NEVER heard cello punk queen Melora Creager and her band Rasputina, you’re in for a sonic ride, one I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy.

The cello-based band’s seventh album came out this week, and with the title Sister Kinderhook (not to mention the awesome embroidery cover art), we and she were meant to be. (Creager lives in the same county as Sister Margaret and I, and Kinderhook is a nearby town. The name of my town is even featured in one of the tracks; go figure.) Listen up, listen in, and enjoy. (For an introduction, you can listen online to the new song Holocaust of Giants.)
