AS YOU KNOW, if you’ve been following along with our recent contest here at TSP, we’re big believers in blogging as a kind of digital sisterhood. The connections we make through bits and bytes bring us laughter, solace and that beautiful feeling that we’re not alone in our struggles, our tastes, our dark or ridiculous secrets. I’ve been lucky to find a kindred (foodie, unruly haired) spirit in Marilyn Naron of SimmerTillDone, a fabulous food blog, that like all my favorite food blogs is as much about the cook as the cooking. Here’s how Marilyn’s and my sisterhood evolved (with a big twist this last week):
Months back, Marilyn started reading and commenting on TSP (how DID you find us in the first place, Marilyn?) and ended up sharing with us and our readers her own sister story. This week, Marilyn has been on summer vacation with her family, and asked me to chime in on Simmer with my own story of food and family. The timing was perfect, since this is the week Marilyn and I are leaping into Margaret‘s big cross-blog foodies Summer Fest, with our friends Matt, Jaden, Todd and Diane, Shauna, and any of YOU who want to participate.
Read what I had to say at Marilyn’s place here, and be sure to share your own tales of summer cooking over the next four weeks, every Tuesday (it started with Herb Week last week; Tree Fruit is next).

Oh, my dear Paige. Just look at all that hair up there!
We’re sisters in straightening, that’s for sure. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful, moving story over at Simmer. I was thrilled to have it. As to how I found TSP – honestly, I’m no longer sure. Clearly a series of fortunate events brought me here, and you haven’t gotten rid of me yet. Just try. :)
I’ve given up on straightening. There’s so much moisture in the air here, and has been all summer, that I could spend the entire day blowdryer in hand and still look like Carrot Top. Will you still be my friend even if I’m frizzy? Please?
Honey, John Frieda couldn’t tear us apart. If you saw my full-on big hair, you’d never stop laughing. Very Rosanne-Rosanna-Danna.
