Check out Susan Harbage Page’s work. I saw an exhibit of her subversive embroidery-on-vintage linens works down in NC about this time last year. I keep the postcard of “Iraq” (2006) on my bookshelf at home…
I wish I could provide a good link, but am having trouble finding many images or chat specifically about her embroideries. susanharbagepage.com doesn’t seem to include them but susanharbagepage.blogspot.com has a few things. While you;re there, be sure to check out those toile Klan hoods! Oh my… The installation shots of “I’m Sorry/Not Sorry” don’t do her work justice–those flowers painted on the wall were just distracting. I think you’d like her cutting feminist commentaries…I think she may also have some of her work on Facebook…
Angie in DC.
Welcome, Angie, and thank you for the reco. I am going to do some hunting down those paths, and tell my TSP sisters. I hope we see you here soon again, and happy holiday weekend meanwhile.
