Got a Sister Image to Share?

by Anastasia on July 8, 2009

margeeLAST WEEK, TSP READER Margee Cooper sent us a 1964 photo (above) shot with her sister, Linda. And as you know, every picture tells a story. Margee’s is a humdinger, and to encourage you to share yours, we’ve included it here with a little slideshow of other new friends’ captioned images of sisterhood.

First, Margee’s tale: “Now, 45 years later,” Margee wrote to us, “we are once again living together along with our mother, Margaret. If someone had told me 6-8 years ago that I would invite my sister, mother, and a little white dog (I always leaned toward golden retrievers) to live with me, I would have laughed out loud and, if drinking any liquid, would have squirted it out my nose.”

Bless you, Margee.

Like we said, Margee isn’t the only one sharing photos and anecdotes with us–after starting a Flickr pool for The Sister Project, we immediately received such a bounty of beautiful images that we already put some together here, with more and bigger shows to come. Note in the captions how some are progressive views, over a period of years, of the same sets of sisters. Enjoy.

Already on Flickr? Go ahead and add to our pool! If not, email us your photo and caption about any interpretation of sisterhood to thesisterproject at gmail dot com.

Welcome, Julianna. Ha! Glad to make you laugh. Lately Marion and I are loving our old photos again so much, and apparently others are feeling the same way. See you soon again, I hope…I just re-read the Gallery portrait of you after seeing your comment, and enjoyed it with a fresh eye.
