YOU PROBABLY KNOW by now that here at The Sister Project, we can’t resist a good sister story, and we love the sisters known as nuns, but this particular piece of news took us by surprise. Bill Murray is one of our favorite actors and comedians (seen his hilarious turn as himself in last year’s Zombieland?) but we didn’t know that one of his eight siblings is a Catholic nun, and a dramatic one at that. Our Sister Paige has the story.

Sister to a Brother
IT’S BEEN A TOUGH YEAR for John, our beloved brother-friend, and subject (as well as object) of our series, Teaching John to Cook. But a year it has been since his wonderful partner died, and since all of you, in response, took on the loving assignment of teaching him to cook. And look! Here comes Thanksgiving, that high holy day of recipes, and we’re asking you for some for a man on his own to bring to the table. Read on.
SINCE LEAVING FOR GRAD SCHOOL, Sister Anastasia hasn’t been able to connect much with Big Brother T…until the other day, finally. Guess how it went? (Read: This is a brother we are talking about.) The sorry outcome is here.
WHEN IN DOUBT, DESSERT. It might be Sister Marion’s new motto. It would make a good T-shirt, wouldn’t it? Hmmm. Anyway, it certainly is a motto she’s using for her friend John, of Teaching John to Cook, the subject of an occasional series here on TSP on how to sister a guy-pal into the kitchen. Marion’s sweet latest installment is here.
AREN’T WEBSITES THAT END in “project” and devote themselves to building community just awesome? (You’d better say “yes!”) Well, TSP’S Sister Anastasia thinks so, anyhow. Let her introduce you to her latest favorite: the This is Home Project.
MIDDLE TSP SISTER PAIGE CAN BARELY BUDGE, or catch a break, what with the cats-and-dogs behavior that’s suddenly overtaken her formerly so-sweet-together kids. Any moms (or siblings) out there want to reassure only-child Paige that this, too, shall pass? She’s waiting for your advice.
SISTER ANASTASIA’S MOTHER (above right) tried to set up Big Brother T (left) on a blind date, but baby sister’s blog foiled the whole thing. Seriously. This blogging stuff has fierce mojo.
GOOD GOD, SAYS SISTER ANASTASIA, HAS ANYTHING SWEETER graced the pages of the internet than the birth of Tessa Tangerine to the blogging family at Pacing the Panic Room? Don’t know what she’s talking about? (“Who gave birth to a tangerine?”) Allow her to explain how this growing family has stolen her heart.
LAST WEEK, TSP READER Margee Cooper sent us a 1964 photo (above) shot with her sister, Linda. And as you know, every picture tells a story. Margee’s is a humdinger, and to encourage you to share yours, we’ve included it here with a little slideshow of other new friends’ captioned images of sisterhood. [click to continue…]

SHE’S THE ‘GENIUS GIRL OF DESTINY,’ her brother has always said, and we tend to agree. Meet artist Bonnie McLaughlin, 25, subject of a recent TSP Galleries show.
FOR ANASTASIA, JUNE MEANS memories of the ending school year (with events like grade school Field Day, pictured left) and the beginning of summer. Meet her tried and true sister friends from those years.
BIG BROTHER + little Icelandic horse = some very funny photos. Anastasia recently spent an afternoon learning to horseback ride with her mother and older brother, T. Hear about the lesson and see the photos.
MARION IS SMACKING HER HEAD about missing the obvious: that her brotherly beginner cooking student needs some reading material (and no, not sophisticated cooking magazines, not yet). Got any recommendations on what “texts” she should be using as she teaches John to cook?
