HOW LUCKY AM I to be able spend some quality time with my brother T on his birthday? It’s been way too long since we hung out. (Six months!) To celebrate his 29th year, we brought a picnic lunch to the Green River. In true T style, however, all he wanted to do was nap. What the birthday boy wants, the birthday boy gets, right?

RIVALRY? HA! THAT’S teeny, tiny potatoes. My resident little sister and big brother–my beautiful kids–have tabled competition, in favor of all out war. It’s looking like Afghanistan in my house: no end in sight. How do you cope?
good brother...good style...I'm in love.
YOU PROBABLY KNOW by now that here at The Sister Project, we can’t resist a good sister story, and we love the sisters known as nuns, but this particular piece of news took us by surprise. Bill Murray is one of our favorite actors and comedians (seen his hilarious turn as himself in last year’s Zombieland?) but we didn’t know that one of his eight siblings is a Catholic nun, and a dramatic one at that. Our Sister Paige has the story.
IT’S BEEN A TOUGH YEAR for John, our beloved brother-friend, and subject (as well as object) of our series, Teaching John to Cook. But a year it has been since his wonderful partner died, and since all of you, in response, took on the loving assignment of teaching him to cook. And look! Here comes Thanksgiving, that high holy day of recipes, and we’re asking you for some for a man on his own to bring to the table. Read on.
SINCE LEAVING FOR GRAD SCHOOL, Sister Anastasia hasn’t been able to connect much with Big Brother T…until the other day, finally. Guess how it went? (Read: This is a brother we are talking about.) The sorry outcome is here.
WHEN IN DOUBT, DESSERT. It might be Sister Marion’s new motto. It would make a good T-shirt, wouldn’t it? Hmmm. Anyway, it certainly is a motto she’s using for her friend John, of Teaching John to Cook, the subject of an occasional series here on TSP on how to sister a guy-pal into the kitchen. Marion’s sweet latest installment is here.
AREN’T WEBSITES THAT END in “project” and devote themselves to building community just awesome? (You’d better say “yes!”) Well, TSP’S Sister Anastasia thinks so, anyhow. Let her introduce you to her latest favorite: the This is Home Project.
MIDDLE TSP SISTER PAIGE CAN BARELY BUDGE, or catch a break, what with the cats-and-dogs behavior that’s suddenly overtaken her formerly so-sweet-together kids. Any moms (or siblings) out there want to reassure only-child Paige that this, too, shall pass? She’s waiting for your advice.
SISTER ANASTASIA’S MOTHER (above right) tried to set up Big Brother T (left) on a blind date, but baby sister’s blog foiled the whole thing. Seriously. This blogging stuff has fierce mojo.
LB says goodbye to Tessa before school.
GOOD GOD, SAYS SISTER ANASTASIA, HAS ANYTHING SWEETER graced the pages of the internet than the birth of Tessa Tangerine to the blogging family at Pacing the Panic Room? Don’t know what she’s talking about? (“Who gave birth to a tangerine?”) Allow her to explain how this growing family has stolen her heart.

First time here? Here's the idea: TSP is a network of blogs about the many facets of the word sister, and the concept of sisterhood. A sisterhood of sister blogs, you could say. Whatever sister means to you, from identical twin to sister-in-law (or in-friendship or in-feminism), we’ll make room to listen in about it or express it on TSP. Like the slogan up top says, “Don’t you have something to say to your sister?” We've got galleries of art and literature by and about sisters, and a Sisterpedia of sisterly trivia...but now we're getting ahead of ourselves.
