THIS WEEK, TSP IS PROUD TO SEND EIGHT WOMEN, bloggers and mothers all, to the premiere Type-A Mom Conference in Asheville, N.C., on full or partial scholarships. They’re going there to learn and to connect with other bloggers–much as the red thread on the top of the page in each TSP logo connects all our sister blogs here. They’ll also to help spread the message “I Blog With the Sisterhood,” the title of the contest that helped us select these newest sisters, and debut our new TSP “badge” (above) that bears the same connective thread. Meet them if you haven’t already, and join us in wishing organizer Kelby Carr and all the Type-A Mom Conference sisters a great event. We’ll be watching, and reporting back soon.

WE’VE BEEN AT IT NINE MONTHS here on TSP, long enough to gestate something human—like a lovable sister(hood)! To celebrate, all week we’ll each be toasting “Sisters We’ve Met Along the Way,” women we’ve profiled and heard from in comments and otherwise adopted or been adopted by. We’ll toast them with a shout-out singalong (thank you, Marion) and a dance (from middle-sister Paige) and our youngest, Anastasia, starts off the festivities with her own gratitude list. Won’t you join in and tell us about sisters you’ve met along the way lately, so maybe we can meet them, too? Or tell them about us (perhaps suggest they join our weekly newsletter list). Thanks for your support, sisters.

PLAYING FAVORITES AMONG YOUR SISTERS is something nobody should ever do, but TSP’s judges (profiled below) were faced with 36 amazing entries for the “I Blog With the Sisterhood” contest with Type-A Mom, and were frankly unable to limit ourselves to the three prizes we had promised. We dug into our cookie jars a little deeper, and have delicious news: Besides the top prize, valued at $900, we upgraded the other awards to include not two but four runners-up, and more than doubled the value of each award. WHEN TSP RECEIVED AN EMAIL from Shelley Kommers with the subject line “Sister Artwork,” we were startled: Had Shelley, known in the Etsy world as Oiseaux (meaning bird in French), seen us lurking in her shops and sites? Magic! Shelley attached two mixed-media pieces about sisters, including the one above, created as a representation of herself with her own sister, Carrie (look whose little arm is around whose bigger waist). No wonder Shelley defines “sister” as “someone you’re stuck with in the best way.” Today, on baby sister Carrie’s birthday, we celebrate big sister’s world rich in our latest TSP Galleries show.

OVER IN OUR TSP GALLERIES, we’ve showcased a number of sisters whose creativity, whether culinary, literary or artistic, moved us, inspired us or simply made us sigh at the beauty of their work. As we mark our blog network’s half-birthday this week, we thought it was high time we checked back in with some of your favorites, to see what they’re up to now, and to remind new visitors to check out work they may have missed. Sister Paige catches us up.

First time here? Here's the idea: TSP is a network of blogs about the many facets of the word sister, and the concept of sisterhood. A sisterhood of sister blogs, you could say. Whatever sister means to you, from identical twin to sister-in-law (or in-friendship or in-feminism), we’ll make room to listen in about it or express it on TSP. Like the slogan up top says, “Don’t you have something to say to your sister?” We've got galleries of art and literature by and about sisters, and a Sisterpedia of sisterly trivia...but now we're getting ahead of ourselves. The quick study: Learn more about TSP, and how to find your way around. And oh—a giant, sisterly welcome.
As the suffix of its name suggests, TSP's Sisterpedia
is the reference section, one we’re hoping you’ll help us grow to maturity by adding your knowledge in the comments. Turn us on to new facts and figures, whether for the branch of our ‘library’ called Sistory (history from a sister point of view, from the Muses of ancient Greece to 60s Girl Groups and beyond) or the one called Sibling Science (what makes sisters tick, genetically and behaviorally). Or just click around and have a good read. See you there. 
No surprise, really, that sisterhood, often life’s longest relationship and always one of its most important, has been the Muse for so much creative self-expression by women, and also by men.
